Energy and The EnvironmentThe focus of "Energy and The Environment "is to think big and look toward the future as you explore sustainable solutions to our energy needs and investigate the impact of energy on our lives and the world. In this class, you will design and model alternative energy sources, assess how you use energy, and how you can change some of your behaviors going forward while evaluating options for reducing your energy consumption.
This class has three main sections for exploration. We will investigate different types of energy, we will look at sustainable energy and, finally, we will focus on making an impact. We will first look at what energy is, how it is measured and how we can change the amount we use. In studying sustainable energy, we look at what the differences are between renewable and non-renewable energy sources, what the benefits and drawbacks there are of each type, and how our current energy usage patterns can be streamlined. Finally, we will put your knowledge of energy to the test by solving some real world engineering problems. As in all Tech Ed courses, students will also answer the questions:
