Flight and SpaceThe focus of this class is flight technologies and their applications. Students investigate several different types of aircraft, learn the physics behind heavier-than-air flight, and explore the challenges of space travel. They will use the engineering design process to design, build, test, and modify flying vehicles like hot air balloons, helicopters, planes, gliders and rockets to optimize flight characteristics and explore the principles of flight. They will learn about different types of measurement for design and building, and they will learn the importance of the engineer's notebook.
Students will learn & explore concepts related to the history of flight and space, principles of aeronautics and propulsion. and traveling and living in space. Through hands-on exploration, students will also ask questions:
